The Zapruder Film

The famous Zapruder Film is a home movie by Abraham Zapruder, a member of the public who happened to be filming the presidential motorcade of President John F Kennedy as it passed through Dealey Plaza in Dallas, Texas on November 22nd, 1963 when the president was assassinated by gunfire.

Just 26.6 seconds long Zapruder's amateur movie is reputedly the most analysed in the history of film and gave rise to a number of conspiracy theories over the assassination. I have selected 3 of its 486 frames as a 'trilogy' of images that graphically characterise a momentous event in the twentieth century. More on my website »

Please note that the images are artworks and not intended to be 100% accurate. I have focussed particularly on the film's distinctive purples and greens with dashes of other strong colours.
